Ridgefield Girls Softball Coaching Requirements

All coaches must submit the appropriate documentation for the coaching requirements listed below.

Background Check:

All Rec/House and Rebels Travel Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are subject to an annual background check.  Please complete the Background Check Authorization Form and return to or Ridgefield Girls Softball, PO Box 1168. Ridgefield, CT 06877. Your SS# is required (no exceptions) and will be stored securely and properly discarded after the completion of the check. You are encouraged to send the information in a secure format.

CPR/AED Training:

All Rec/House and Rebels Travel Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to submit an active CPR/AED training certificate of completion. Certificates are to be renewed every two years. Send your active CPR/AED training certifications to .

This required training is provided by the American Red Cross. The spring 2017 schedule for classes is below.  Please reserve your place in class by contacting Beth Perlman at and indicating you are part of RGS. The cost of the class is $40 for Full Certification and $25 for Re-Certification.  If your certification is just expiring for this season, you only need to take the re-cert class.

All Rec/House and Rebels Travel Head Coaches, both Rec/House and Rebels Travel, are required to complete the Babe Ruth coaches certification and submit their certification to secretary@ridgefieldgirlssoftball.org.

Rebels Travel Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to complete CDC HEADS UP to Youth Sports Concussion Training. Rec/House Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches are not required, but are recommended to complete the training. Once you receive your completion certificate please email it to .

Team Communications:

Coaches are recommended to utilize the RGS League Athletics website for communications (www.ridgefieldgirlssoftball.org). We are requesting that all RGS related communications with your team been done via the RGS website. The site takes a short time to master and is a very clean and secure way to manage communications. 


Player Medical Forms:

Coaches are required to have the player medical and emergency contact information for their team with them at all practices, games and tournaments.  This information must be provided to medical staff should the need arise. This information will be provided to you at the start of the season.
