Ridgefield Softball

The Recreational Softball Division (Rec or House) of Ridgefield Girls Softball has 5 age subdivisions, 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U all playing softball during the Spring season.

The overriding  goals of Ridgefield Girls Softball and its two core divisions Ridgefield Rebels Travel and Ridgefield Rec/House are to teach the girls to enjoy the game of fastpitch softball, improve their on-field skills, make solid friendships with their teammates, respect the game/their teammates/their coaches/their opponents/the officials, and to mature into fine young women.

The Rec/House division is an instructional division offering and introduction to softball in our younger age divisions (6U, 8U) through more advanced skills in our older age divisions (10U, 12U, 14U).

The coaching provided the girls is a progression of skills from age group to age group, enabling the girls to build on what has previously has been learned and mastered.  For example, all girls, regardless of age or experience, will be taught the same basic and proper mechanics of fielding ground balls, swinging a bat, etc.  As their skill increases or as they get older, more advanced instruction is provided.

Some girls may advance to the level where they desire a higher level of competition.  For those girls we have Ridgefield Rebels Travel which is a more competitive program and requires a pre-season tryout.

All of our coaches have coaching certifications from Babe Ruth League, Inc and are 1st Aid/CPR certified.  Several of our coaches also are Connecticut State certified through the CIAC.
